The concept ‘wearable art’ is evoked by this design. Named after the Swahili word for lake, this five strand beauty is comprised of white metal, brass and red chevron glass made in Venice and then sent to the Ivory Coast. From there it was traded among different tribes along Lake Victoria in Kenya. Kenya holds a special place in Saskia’s heart, she spent time there in her college years teaching math and English, and even helped to build a library there.
